The 820 gets the Adreno 530, and Qualcomm says that should offer the chip graphics performance that’s 40 percent better than the Adreno 430 brings the Snapdragon 810 – while also cutting power consumption by the same factor. We’re actually learning about more than just the 820 today, as the new Adreno GPUs will also show up in Snapdragon 620 and 618 chips. Well, the rumored August 11 date passed by without any new 820 info, but it turns out that was only off by a day, and today Qualcomm offers new insight into its SoC as it talks about its latest image signal processor and Adreno 5-series GPUs. Ever since, we’ve been looking to get the full picture on this component, and rumors had suggested that answers might come this week. Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 820 SoC has been official for a long time now, but so far the company’s been light on details about the chip, only providing some brief “preview” data.
